One of the biggest questions that friends, family, and customers ask me is how should I make coffee. Well, that question is actually more open-ended than people expect. Coffee is for everyone. A lot of times people expect someone who works in the coffee industry to give an incredibly intricate and exact answer, but that services no one well. Coffee is meant to be experimented with, taste-tested, and brewed in a multitude of different ways. Every person will like their coffee differently as well. Some prefer fruitier coffees, some nuttier, some light roasts, other dark roasts, some people drink coffee with cream, and some have coffee naturally. Coffee is a global drink and it is made in a multitude of unique ways. All in all, coffee is meant to be made creatively and ultimately just enjoyed for being delicious despite the brew method.
Obviously, there will be some people who like one way of drinking coffee but dislike another. My personal favorite method is a Hario v60 pour over with a 1:16 ratio drunk black. I also really love espresso drinks and enjoy Aeropress. Over the past few months, I have also learned how to make more unknown coffee methods like Scandinavian Egg Coffee and Turkish Coffee. If you like coffee, drink coffee the way you like it, but also be willing to try coffee the way barista’s drink it. Go with what you love and drink it to your heart’s content, but it will also be fun and adventurous to try new methods of coffee and different ways to drink coffee. I seriously believe you will enjoy coffee more if you are willing to experiment!
